If your computer time and date keeps resetting every time  after you shut down your computer this may be a clear indication that your CMOS battery which is located on your desktop computer motherboard is failing/dying.This is a good reason why it is not retaining the motherboard settings causing your date and time  to reset.

What is the CMOS battery?

The CMOS battery is a small battery found on the computer motherboard that continues to power the motherboard  even after the computer is turned off, this allows for the motherboard to retain settings needed to boot the computer.
